The show was known for its documentary-like approach, blending factual accuracy with light humor and irony, often through the narration of host Thomas Hyland (voiced by Lou Merrill). Scripts were written by Morton Fine and David Friedkin, with music by Bernard Herrmann, who used minimal instruments to evoke different eras. Notable episodes include "The Crime of Bathsheba Spooner" and "Good Evening, My Name Is Jack the Ripper." It’s praised for its witty tone, sharp writing, and atmospheric sound design, making it a gem of old-time radio.
